I am finally back and semi caught up on school, work, and life so I am ready to tell about the awesome experience we had in Nassau, Bahamas. I wont lie, there was a rough start, actually if we're being honest the whole week had rough moments. It was different than any mission trip I've been on before, but for every bad thing that happened I can think of at least two truly amazing things God did for us
and through us. My team worked at an elderly care facility where we were restoring some roofing that had been damaged in a previous hurricane, doing yard work on greenery that we could only describe as a jungle (literally cut stock for hours with a machete, pretty cool, huh?). We also stole away moments to connect with the workers and the patients to build relationships and learn about the culture of their world. It never ceases to put me in the best kind of shock when I see how much work a measly group of kids can get done in one week when we focus on something bigger than ourselves, but it was so much more than roofs and playing with children/ elderly and the physical work we did. I got to witness people dedicate their lives to God, answer their call to ministry, and truly open up to the community of believers, this family, where no one got left behind. It was more beautiful than the ocean and the sunrise. It was the light of God's presence outshining the existence of things we didn't expect. It was His love and grace overpowering the negativity we conjured in our human response to the frustrations we faced. It was a reminder of the Almighty I Am and the ways that He can use every thing in our lives to share a story with us and tell a story through us.
Let God use you as an agent of change for the whole world.
